Congratulations! You have a SafeShot!
You have purchased, or have been given a SafeShot™ eclipse viewer, and you engaged the QR code on the viewer side of the panel.
This is the starting point for SafeShot owners, for instructions, tips and techniques, community sharing, and links to Solar Eclipse information. Please refer to the info menu option for access to more eclipse related information.
This is still being built out, in the meantime, we’ve provided quick start instructions to get you going, using and testing your SafeShot.
Let's get started using SafeShot
Never, never, ever, under any circumstance should you be looking directly at the sun with unprotected eyes! It can cause permanent eye damage! Good thing you have a SafeShot! Now let's get this eclipse party going... Safely.
Step 1) Safety Check
Before using the safeshot panel, always performa a safety check for light leaks
Step 2) Make sure your smartphone has a smooth backside!
In order to get the best imaging possible, your smartphone should be flush against the SafeShot plate. This is what you want the back side to look like.
If your smartphone looks like these, you'll have problems keeping your Smartphone attached to the plate.
Step 3) Apply adhesive system
Placement of the re-mountable adhesive system, so that you can secure your smartphone to the SafeShot plate.
Note: Once in place, you can remove and remount your smartphone as many times as you want!
Step 4) View and capture the Sun
This is what your Safeshot setup should look like. Before viewing open your camera app and set Smartphone camera to manual mode. You will be adjusting shutter speed, f-stop, and ISO settings to optimize your image quality of the Sun.
Hold the Safeshot plate at arms length and then bring the plate 1/2 back in towards your face, until you find the most comfortable distance that allows you to see both the Sun in the eye safe window, as well as on the Smartphone screen.
